Chevra Kadisha

The Chevra Kadisha of the Shaar Shalom Synagogue is a group of caring individuals who look after both the deceased and the grieving family when there is a death in the congregation.  The group is always ready to lend a hand in time of need, at the funeral home, at the funeral, and at the Shiva.

If There is a Death in the Family

When a death occurs, you should immediately contact Jon Goldberg of the Chevra Kadisha at 492-2838 (home) or 422-7491 ext. 222 (work).  Jon will call Cruickshank's Funeral Home, where the Chevra Kadisha will perform the ritual preparations for burial.  If you cannot make contact with Jon Goldberg, then please call Mark David (455-4735 home, 489-4085 cell) or Marty Zelenietz (463-0687) of the Chevra Kadisha and they will assist you. Also, make sure that you arrange to collect the death certificate.

Gaum Bereavement Centre.
